Mudder, I have 4.56s in my 84 with 31s and LOVE them! The power gain is super awesome/noticeable. I would def recommend it. Could you score a housing and buy gears and have it assembled cheaper?

I may see I'd my buddy's friend can do it. The one shop I know about I don't trust anymore. As for gears possibly. I'll be looking in marlins website today to figure it out. Thanks toast

I don't know about gears. Using the gear calculator on marlins sit with 4.56's at 70 mph I'm close to 3k rpms. While with 4.10's (4.11's) I'm only at 2600 rpms.

Well next weekend I've got a lot a head of me. I'm doing the timing chain water pump and oil pan gasket along with the rear drum brakes and hopefully my front winch will be all set up.

Nah, I went with a single row chain. Just in case there was anything that needed modified I wasn't out of a truck until it happened.

Well I got everything I'll need for the timing chain. A t-stat from Toyota along with an oil filter, gasket for the oil pan my timing chain set and oil. I hopefully have a water pump that'll work for this truck

A factory water pump at Toyota is surprisingly only $60 bucks. I'd get a new one...

I have a new one sitting in my box. Its not Toyota but its from engnbldr

So I saw this today..

Whoa. It's only the anti-sway bar, so the risk when it fails is low, but still... that is a serious booty fab hack. Just take the whole stupid thing off.

It still scary. I'd never do it. Well in a couple of weeks I'll be starting my flatbed build. The only thing I don't have figured out yet is what to do light wise. I'm thinking a brake/running light combo, back up lights and turn signals.

For the flatbed I'm running 1/8 in steel plate for the deck 1.25x1.25 1/8 wall sq tubing for bracing and 2x2 1/4 walla sq tubing for the frame with a 1.75x.120 tubing for the headache rack and sides

And this is where you will have my undevided attention.

I'll make sure to take a lot of pictures as I build it. But I do have one question, before I go pull the trigger on a $180 knock ensor from toyota does anyone have one from a 88-91? Just thought I'd check with you guys. If not I'll be ordering on from Cruiserdan friday most likely.

So I started my timing chain today. 4x4wire has the best write up for it I've found, not my first time doing one but I still like refreshers. 4crawler's is a good one for figuring out where bolts are, but you do have to loosen the head bolts if you are removing the head, which I never do. I will suggest that if doing this swap on a solid axle rig and the oil pan hasn't been done to do it. Also of its old like mine on stock lead springs you will need to raise the truck up on the frame rail to get the oil pan out from under the truck.

Well I got the timing chain done and advanced it to 8* btdc, it runs great now and has more power also got the idle adjusted correctly. This truck is coming along nicely thanks to mud and the write ups on here. Only things left are clutch, front axle rebuild, paint, windshield and fix my heater controls and build my flat bed.

Did my rear drum brakes last night. Better stopping now, also did the wheel cylinders. Today I pulled off the throttle body and upper intake and used 3 cans of brake cleaner to clean them then did the lower intake a little bit. She now runs smoother

And to make it even better cruiserdan got back to me and I've got a knock sensor and Toyota air filter coming. So no more CEL and s good air filter
