So....

I propose that instead of being bombarded by having to redo our membership list every year, let's make memberships a decade long affair.

We can kick people out whenever we want (er vote them out) so there's no fear there of being stuck with anyone for any longer than is necessary.

$5/year for people within whatever the allowable kms is (200km).. makes it $50 a decade. That's not too bad, assuming that you renew your TLCA membership in addition to that. People living 200km+ (or however far the cut off is) will still qualify for 0$ member fees as long as they've kept their TLCA membership up to date. Now, most of the local Swamp Donkey members have pretty much signed up for 5 years, so essentially we're really going to be cutting down on the mass amounts of paperwork needed if we adopt this.

Another thing to figure out is whether or not we flush our current roster down the toilet and start fresh and so clean clean.

What sayeth the masses?

I'm ok with it, but I don't know about Cheapskates Jim and Howard.

And why erase the membership list?

New decade. Start fresh. There are a few people who we never hear from anymore and I have no idea if they're still interested in renewing their memberships.

It's not like we actually collect dues anyway ;) I suppose we could just mail out a bunch of 2010-2020 application forms and see what we get back.

I thought that is what you did, if you didn't hear from someone then they got chopped, I wouldn't start chopping prematurly, that's just not nice.

Well, technically memberships expired Dec. 31, 2009 so right now we have 0 members :p

Speaking of chopping I need to buy an axe.

The Fiskar is what someone had on the RubiCon trip, seems like a real nice hatchet. There is a thread in the camping section about them (and other axe choices).

This is an AXE, part of my "Axes of evil" collection, doesn't fit in a back pack very well tho.....

 that would solve the 'flimsy handle' issue

My dad broke 2 wooden handles in 1 day, each had less than 5 swings at the block, so now we both have a handle that should last for a while.

brought 4 of those when we came back from Nepal in 2002 paid $12 cdn for them. have cut down lots of brush and trees and have never sharpened it. they rock

:meh: like this one? they're ok, :flipoff2: I sharpen it with a grinder, 40 grit. :flipoff2:

Very nice! The red adds a lovely shade of gore.
