So I had my engine rebuilt, didn't do it myself because I would have screwed things up worse than they were. I had oil coming out of my tailpipe, lots of it. Now I have my truck back, and still oil coming out tailpipe when warming up, but not as much and truck runs good. Anyone no what's going on? And yeah, I know whoever rebuilt my engine doesn't know what he is doing, so please refrain from stating the obvious. 83 toyota p/u 22r

One more thing. Is anyone happy with a K&N air filter who's got a carbureted truck? I'm not impressed. Thinking of going back to factory.

Thanks:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

obviously there is a leak. so to check it you need to check the intake manifold vacuum. a tool that measures this typically can test fuel pump pressure to. ( just more info for you to use while tracking the tool down)

so once you hook it up the needle on the gauge will behave in a manner that you can intrepet. it will either have instruction on the gauge it self or a book with it.

if oily smoke comes out in the morning, its from the valve stem seals leaking down over night. if its smoking while its good and hot, its bad rings.

now this is also a valid point, what ever caused all this oil to come out in the first place may have been fixed in the so called 'rebuild' so its possible the oil coming out now is left over.

if you have a catalyst on there, by now its full, and defenitly inaffective.

as far as your K&N goes, as long as you never used compressed air to clean it out, its still effective. but remember, it is a high flow, so some dust microns are still passing through. eventualy will kill your rings.

but i have not seen any long term affects on any of my trucks, thus far.

Definitely only when it's cold do I see oil out the tailpipe. Left over oil? How long would I expect to see it then? Eventually, is it possible I will blow all the crap out from before the rebuild? Thanks for the help.
