The US Army PTO I ran had a lift up plate (lock out) on the floor sheet metal. Put the tranny in reverse and it would power spool out. The winch had in or out (free spool). There might have been a brake/lock position I don't remember any more.

single directionIs it a two direction or single direction PTO?
yeah could easily modify the vertical part to pick up a bolt that comes in from the rear of the gearbox I havnt bothered yet though
Only two top bolts used on the bracket and see it vertical in the front like the automatic bracket I have. Yours must be an earlier version where it has a gate that allows forward movement. Single direction PTO lever prevents it from moving forward. I now wish I would have tried harder to remove the winch off of this 84 troopy. Wasn't having much luck with hand tools and no power.single direction
What was your plan to start collecting the pieces to add a PTO winch? Or something Land Cruiser you bought? I know I've been guilty more than once of doing that.Bought it some years ago, looked up the info, it came off a H55, 82+, forward
