How did the panels look after they were sand blasted and primed. I don't want there to be a whole lot of imperfections in the metal because of the sand. I also heard that sand blasting can cause the metal to warp. I talked to Lindsey today and he said that he would charge 200 for the Hood and both fenders. Does the price sound about right, I've never had anything sand blasted and primed before.

That sounds high to me more like $150 blasted and primed. Go talk to him and show him the parts first and negotiate with him. If he's still to high I'd take them back home and try again when he needs some spending cash of course thats when I'm not in a bind for the parts. If you have good metal you don't have to worry about warping and Lindsey's crew does a good job of knowing what kind of force to put on it. I'm sure they don't use but a 1/4 of what his blaster is capable of. In my experience I've never had any issues I don't have the front end parts he recently did for me or I would tell you to come check them out. If there is bad metal it'll expose it and you'll know what needs to be cut out and replaced. I tried the paint remover and scraping on my 70 when the painter told me stop that the chemicals I was using could cause problems under the paint later. I'm not a painter so I went along with it. It was a nasty and slow going job anyway so I took everything to get blasted and was glad I did. I know there are more professional blasting methods to use but this works fine for me

yea my buddy travis the one who fixed my fj and eriks 80 toldme that using that striper could cause corrision probs under the primer , when i was re doing the harley , i trust him he been to like all the bbg and house of color skools and if u ever notice on like hot rod tv they always blast

That good to know, i always used mind electic sander when i what take paint off metel.

i got my brake locks in to day for the buggy i got to of them front and back , too bad i got drill this weekend or id put em in , what yall think about regearing ? from 353 -- 488 think it be worth the $$$ i mean it has a slow crawl speed now just thought it be slower lol i mean its wayyy slower than the fj give me some 2 cents?

That chart is based on 65mph rpms. For the money, I would keep the gears you have. I think you have enough gearing in your t-cases to keep you happy. Besides, you don't want to go so low that you can no longer clear your tires when they get a bit of the sticky stuff.

don`t want to get to low in gearing as then ya won`t be able to clean the tires or have enough speed to bump over you will just set ther and scrub on the rock.
are the line locks gonna be your only form of parking brake/ E brake?
if there are then remember if the brake master cylinder or a line is broken or a caliper or wheel cylinder fails you have no brakes!

the E in E-brakes stands for EMERGENCY

just like in the army nice to have a backup

Yeaa tru. That the only form of e break I'm Gona have I gueetge back up will b. A log. Asa tire chock lol or benD the brake line , it's spinning 4500 Rpms at like 3 -5 mph in low

I took your advice and took my hood and fenders to S&S. I was a little apprehensive about it at first but I received them back a couple days ago and I was pretty impressed. All in all Lindsey did a great job and only charged me 175 after it all was done. Here are some pics.

We finally got one but it is not hand held. The hand held we had sucked. If we were more than 10 feet from anybody we couldn't communicate.

I like the Optimus shirt Josh, does it have the external antenna hookup? I'm sure you did your homework which is the best one to go with? Jean which one you all have so I know not to go with that one I'll tote the 70's model Cobra in the tool box just in case. It works no matter where I throw it.

I have a couple (they work good) but they don't work if you are on the other side of a mountain.

They are Cobras. Not sure on the model or the range(they are in Costa Rica) but I do remember they were under $100.

They are GE brand. We got them a long long time ago but only used them when we started wheeling. They also use a ton of batteries. They didn't work well even when they were plugged in the cigarette lighter or the other thingys that Paul put in.
