Exactly ,if u want to general cruiser info/advice u come here which is great , but if u want expertise in certain areas not listed here , u go else where . Its Never personal ! The more experienced guys on here are on several sites like pirate4x4 , etc , seen heaps of links going to different ones , tho have been on them before . Good to have a broad knowledge base , then make up ur own opinion . Maybe if u want to discuss it more , pm me (-;

Who doesnt know about pirate ? Only newbies to 4x4s maybe . Notice theres a few more new members there from here lol. As i said its good to have broad knowledge base , why limit urself to one ?

Back to pusher pumps , anyone running one of those popular systems fron bullydog ,etc ? l the ones i know are for perfomance engines , my truck came with one , but i disconnected it as re doing the wiring , set up , will hook it up again when sorted the long range tank . Anyone run a swirl pot pre pump?

If anyone is interested, I'll try to tackle the dropping idle issue now by swapping out the damper spring and seat in the injection pump. According to the general workings of a Bosch VE injection pump the pump automatically compensates for effects of temperature and load changes at idle. When idle speed begins to drop, the centrifugal governor weights and the governor sleeve retract; the idle spring (damper spring) then pushes the metering sleeve to the right, increasing the amount of fuel to correct the idle speed.
I am getting the correct spring, seat and gaskets out of Europe (my brother loves to pester the local Toy dealer with obscure parts) and will put them in. No gain no loss.
cheers,
jan

Ill be watching closely but I think you are on the right track. Its odd that other rotary pumps dont do this,not to my knowledge anyway.

There was a guy from Haiti who had this problem but he stopped posting about the time of the big earthquake.
Im hoping it was his cruiser that got squashed rather than him(if that was the reason he stopped posting).
There was also the British owner living in Spain,he was looking to the governor springs but I dont know if he could find anyone he could deal with.

Update: Got control spring, damper spring, seat and the gasket for the pump top (from 3 different continents) . If I find the time this weekend I'll put the new ones in.

For anyone with an FRB-5 or similar installed...does yours tick even when engine is off? (with power supplied). Mine does, albeit quite slowly, but I feel like this might indicate an air leak unless there is a normal escape for the fuel to return to the tank when the engine is off?

Think about it. If your key is on, the fuel cut solenoid is open and therefore fuel bypasses the injectors and is returned to the tank.

Mine ticks too. A good sign in the winter that your fuel is not gelled.

I think mine ticks at about 1Hz. Maybe a bit less.

It ticks if I power it when the truck is completely off with the key out too. I just tested it by clamping off the fuel line right as it exits the pump and it continued to tick so I'm not going to worry about it.
