So I have decided to use my tax return plus some money I got from selling a few stocks to purchase some new tools. I'd like these three items:

Air compressor.

Plasma Cutter.

Rolling tool chest.

I learned from my mistakes in the past that buying cheap major power tools is no good. So after doing some research I have decided to go with theses three items:

This is the compressor I am looking at. I have an IR deal a few miles from my house and I was planning on purchasing it there. SEARS also carries it. Id feel more comfortable getting it from the dealer because they do service as well, but if they are way more expensive than SEARS, Ill go to SEARS.

Garage Mate Portable Reciprocating Air Compressor

This is the Plasma Cutter I am looking at. Its a small unit but I like the 110/220v option and it looks like it will meet my needs. I dont anticipate needing to cut anything over 1/4". I think WestAir carries Hypertherm, but if I can find an alternate dealer, Im open to that. WestAir is kind shady sometimes. They have been know to change the guns on their machines so you have to buy their consumables. Open to suggestions:

This is the tool chest I am looking at. It's expandable and a pretty solid unit. I will probably go with this, unless i can find a killer deal on a refurbished unit at the sears outlet:

Rolling Tool Cabinet w/ 13 Tool Drawers

I am open to any suggestions/input as to where to buy, or alternative brands/products. I will try posting this in the 80 section as well, since I think it counts as tech.

Check out the Husky compressor at Home Depot. $399.

30-Gallon Portable Electric Air Compressor-VT6315 at The Home Depot

It is what i have and seems to do well. I have run impacts, rachets, drills and spray guns with it. I have not run a sander with it.

I have had a craftsman compressor in the past, which is very similar, if not the same as the Husky/Central pneumatic/dewalt and similar brands. I have nothing against the compressors, however, I have had bad experiences when trying to get help/work done on those units. I prefer to go with IR because they are a very solid company that stands behind their products and compressors is what they do. I dont mind paying an extra hundred bucks for a solid product with good support I dont plan on replacing this compressor anytime soon and if I decide to go bigger. The IR compressors hold their value very well.

Sears also does in store and online layaway. And maybe you can get lucky and score like I did, they had their 40" 22 drawer combo tool box mis-priced for $499. Needless to say I bought it right then.

Very nice, those will be a great addition to your tool collection. I went with a Craftsman’s toll chest combo with the roller bearing slides. I would go to a Harbor Freight store and check out that cabinet in person before ordering. Also check craigslist for used ones they come up all time and can save you some coin.

Wait for the monthly "Friends and Family" night and get an additional 10% off your stuff at Sears.

They do it on-line too, but what I can find is 6pm 2/11 to 2am 2/13. I can't seem to find the exact day for in-store purchases.
