Anyone know about this swamp lake trail??
Sounds fun!!

Swamp Lake is down in the Central Sierras, near Dusy-Ershim. I don't know that I would drive all that way just to do Swamp Lake, but if you are already going to do Dusy and still haven't got your fill it would be easy to add a day on Swamp Lake Trail.

Aaaah... I thought it was closer.
Still, some of the trail descriptions, it sounds like a challenging run.

Yeah I love that area and they have some beautiful trails and are typically not that crowded in my experience. It is just a haul is the only issue; hard to drive past so many great trails in this area.

One of these years (this year???) I will spend a week on Dusy and do little spur backpacking trips off the trail. I have been saying that for a while now though...

This is one of the challenging climbs on the trail.

It's a great trail,14 miles long from about 6,500 ft to 9,600 ft elevation. The elevation makes it a nice cool destination for the summer. There are 2 camping areas at lakes,Swamp Lake and Grouse Lake. You can also go about 4.5 miles in from the South end and walk over to Sportsman and Hatch Lakes to fish/swim.
