Just switched my 2013 TLC to a Slightly larger tire and the lt285 65 18 general grabber ATXs are now rubbing on the passenger side front suspension. The rub only occurs at full lock when on a steep incline in either drive or reverse. The tire do clear the fender liner and plastic just fine.

Running stock suspension with 84,000 miles, alignment was just performed.
Curious If anyone thinks this could be the result of worn shocks, poor alignment?
I do have a slight kdss lean. The passenger side that rubs is approx 1" higher than the driver side.

Planning on installing the tough dog 2" lift/leveling kit. Would this help or make things worse?

Thanks for any help and insight you may be able to provide.

How close is the other side to the KDSS arm when full-lock to the right?

Upon closer inspection of the driver side at full lock there is the slightest rub on the suspension/ KDSS.

The space on the other side’s KDSS arm looks to be pretty much the same, maybe a fraction more as the rub is minimal but still evident.

Time for more mods!

I would guess the lift will solve it. If it doesn’t, get some spacers.

Crossing my fingers the lift will solve it.... hoping it just doesn’t make things worse.

Been reading a lot on the forum about tires and clearance so I was surprised to discover that a 285 65 18 will rub on the KDSS.

anyone know if tweaking the alignment can provide enough clearance while still staying within the factory alignment specs or close to it?

I doubt it. I can’t see yours being that far out without a new lift or you noticing.

Most 285/65 seem to fit. My KO2s were close but cleared everywhere. Even my 285/70/17s hit the rear of the front fender liner but don’t rub at your spot. Maybe those are particularly wide just past the contact patch?

Are you running stock wheels?

Yes stock wheels. My 2013 Land cruiser is all stock with exception to the general grabber ATX tires. Been scouring the 4Runner forums and read that adjusting the caster to the max (within spec) may give me some more room/clearance.

My 275/70R18s rub similarly but I've never even noticed it other than the shiny spots on the sway bar. That's not enough rub to matter or damage anything, so honestly unless it's noticeable while it's happening I'd just ignore it.

Thanks for the input. Going to run with it as is and will update once the lift is installed.

From all my research I was under the impression that both 285/65r18 and 275/70r18 would both clear. looking like different manufacturers will be slighty bigger or smaller. seems like ko2s run small and general grabber atx and falkin wild peaks at3w run large for their respective sizes.

I'm running the same exact set up except my wheels are et35 offset and i don't have any rubbing. That or front spring spacers is where i'd start.
