On my 1988 FJ62 the wiring in and around the starter is held in place by a zip tie! Is there a bracket or something that initially came with the truck that would better secure this wiring bird nest! Photo for reference attached.
PS please disregard any green liquid residue as I am changing out the coolant hoses.

With the 5 speed conversion there's lots of extra wire(length) now in that jumble of plugs. It's your trucks extra skin after losing all that weight.:hillbilly: I'm dealing with the same thing trying to figure a clean way to snug all that stuff up out of the way, and not dangle down into the front driveshaft, road splash, mud/dirt, etc.
No factory brackets were there, the wires just used to be more stretched out.

Thank you Skniper!
Please keep me posted on your solution and send me photos, please!

Originally that wiring is all secured up on one of the side cover bolts. Which is why it usually is so nasty and grimy.
that zip tie was probably put in by me - about four years ago if I remember correctly - so has actually worked pretty well :)
I have found some much nicer solutions since then.

So I haven't addressed the extra wiring just yet as I am knee deep into replacing EVERY rubber hose and gaskets along with cleaning off forty plus years of grease and grime. Matt, that zip tie is a cool story. Do let us know of the better idea on how to manage.
Ty!
