I tried a number of ways to do this. With hand winches and with comealongs and a bunch of pulleys first because I had those around and those are what a MUDder would use, but, finally, there was nothing like a chain hoist to do a good job of it. Yet again, the specialized tool made for just the very job ends up being best... Some life session there, no doubt. I just gotta figure out what that is....
