I had a weird thing happening at highway speeds today (long distance drive). I was cruising at around 80 km/h and all of a sudden the engine lost power. At slight throttle there was no power at all. With more throttle there was a little bit of power but nowhere near normal. I kept rolling for about 500 meters then pulled over. I went to check the engine, opened the hood but everything seemed perfectly fine. No strange noises, no warning lights, no smoke, fluids etc.

Then I played with the throttle a bit and everything seemed perfectly fine again. I drove home afterwards with no problem. Engine had full power as if nothing happened.

What could this be? To be honest my first thought was that it is fuel related. Felt just like all of a sudden the engine was starved of fuel but the fuel pump and injectors have been replaced a few months ago so I am not sure what exactly could be wrong?

I will go to the mechanic tomorrow to check if any error codes came up despite there being no engine control light but unsure what to check for apart from that.

I had this issue on my 2002 for a couple years. Very intermittent loss of power. Usually on long drives, No engine codes. Progressively got worse. New OEM throttle body assembly resolved it.

Yeah, this seems the most likely issue. Thanks

Few years ago I also previously experienced same temporary loss of power symptoms exactly as per what you describe (intermittent, usually cruising on long distance drives)
Gave a good spray of throttle body cleaner (using the aerosol nozzle into the air intake) with engine running and since then I've added an injector cleaner additive to my fuel tank (Wynn's or Shield etc) every 5000km's or so and this seems to have solved the problem. As per Mchodl a new OEM throttle body is probably on the cards in due course but so far so good using the injector cleaner.
