I have a 100 Series that I have had for 10 years. It's been a great truck and I have in the past few years built it out to add front and rear winch bumpers, and lift the truck. I have the following config: OME shocks, OME Heavy Torsion Bars, Freedom Off Road UCAs, OME Heavy Rear springs, an extra battery in back (by the second winch), 33" Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T Tires

I have replaced or repaired the following items lately: Rack & Pinion Replacement (OE), Inner/Outer Tie Rods, LBJs, CV Joints (OE), Alternator, Spark Plugs, ignition Coils (all), accessory belt.

Next Mechanic Trip Panned: Timing Belt

I have recently started a new venture selling snack foods wholesale via convenience stores. To pull this off, I have literally driven over 80,000 miles in a matter of a year and the tally continues going up. The upside might be a comfortable early retirement, but for now I drive endless miles and work my a** off every day. Money is tight but each time things go well, I am investing back into the truck.

I have swapped the fluid in the front diff, but never the transmission. While I am not having any issues at this time, this worries me. I began looking at videos on how to swap the fluid, and at the auto parts store they suggested dropping the pan and swapping the gasket and filter ($65). I also bought the fluid for the diff.

I can find little on this maintenance item. Am I better off to just start regularly doing a drain and fill on the transmission?

80k miles is about the right interval for your ATF. I wouldn’t hesitate to do it at that rate of use. If it’s mostly miles and w/o towing I would go for a regular drain and fill on the ATF. Just prepared to do drop the pan in case if upon draining you see metal specs in the fluid, that means atf strainer needs to be cleaned hence dropping the pan (clean catch base as well) and gasket replacement.

You are writing miles off taxes correct? 80,000 X $.67 = $53,600 off of your taxable income. Hellluurrr?

That's what they have tires for.
