I didn't see a thread like this on this forum. We have one on the LX forum that is pretty popular so thought I would start one. If there is already a thread like this, please delete.
My SQOTD, has anyone removed the little back seat/child mirror (or what ever you call it) from the ceiling console? On the LX it is a place to keep sunglasses. Was wondering if there was a pocket behind the mirror or just an open space.

Just pull down a little harder, it will drop down and you can store the sunglasses.

What are your thoughts of using that space?
When we had our old 100 series, when I was on that forum I believe there were a few folks that used that space up there for CB's or HAM radios or something like that. It's been a while.
Personally, using it for my sunglasses works just fine. I've had my "car" sun glasses (polarized Ray-Ban Wayfarer) for over 25 years. I'm not prone to breaking or loosing sunglasses, unlike many others. So I like having a secure place where I know they will always be.

Perfect place for them!

I never have and never will use that mirror. So I ground down the tabs on the sides so when you open it, it just drops all the way to the full open setting. Unfortunately, my sunglasses don't fit in there without scraping them up and getting fingerprints all over them. The curvature of the inside of the drop down door is too extreme to fit larger glasses. Useless for me.

So yeah, that space could definitely be better used. If I had need for a lot of switches I would cut the entire backing out of that drop down door and install Carling switches or similar. You could absolutely remove the door and expose a small cubby which would partially fit a small mobile radio with wiring routed up under the headliner.
