I'm also being more proactive to not fill to the top on all our vehicles. The code I got this past weekend (P0453) appears to be from the gas cap. I cleaned it with a dry cloth along with the gas intake area. After clearing the code, it has not returned. You all know topping off (meaning repeat filling and filling until fuel is high up to the filling neck) can flood the charcoal evap filter (through a leaking check valve) and cause issues. I used to do this out of habit, no longer now I am aware.
As Yossarian said, I've had a few ascents/descents from high altitude that did something funky with the rig, but it would quickly go away.
I wish Toyota would allow me to design a newer Cruiser where most of the EPA stuff would be removed, and go back to the days where transfer cases, lockers, and such were moved by a metal rod. Of course, keeping the modern day comforts of the inside.
