Struggling with hardtop rubbers for a 64

I am getting close to being done with getting the hardtop together and I'm down to sealing the front against the windshield frame. I've bought two different repo rubbers, but my original is probably three or four times thicker and the repro rubbers just flop around in the gap. When I look at the parts book it looks like there is a different part for my earlier FJ40. I could try to clean and reinstall the old one (torn in a few spots), but would prefer a new one. Anyone have experience here? Also in the parts diagram it doesn't look like it uses the little corner squares.
