So ever since I got my 80 almost a year ago it's hand a strange issue where the ABS will activate around 3-5 MPH when stopping at lights or stop signs. The tires aren't losing traction and I can't find any damage to any of the ABS sensors. I've been on the fence about ditching the ABS because of this issue but before I go that far I'm going to flush the brake fluid after work and adjust my LSPV. I have no warning lights and the ABS light works because it comes on when I lock my center diff. Other than this my brakes work fine and I have even brake pad wear.

Has anyone delt with a similar issue?

Yes. I pulled my ABS fuse until I got around to figuring it out. Could be the ABS sensors, the wiring, the ABS harness and connectors, etc. There are several threads with people with the same type of issue. Since mine has be retired to wheeling/camping only I haven't had the urge to fix and doesn't bother me.

I had same issue. Happened after I buttoned everything back up from an axle rebuild. I removed the fuse as a cheap ABS delete after cleaning the sensors didn't completely solve it. Found two cheap sensors on here and will probably swap them in this weekend or next to see if they're the culprit.

Interested in what your solution ends up being.

This is becoming a very common problem with ageing 80's. The bushing in the front spindle wears, this allows the ABS sensor to lose the tone ring image for a second or two, then the ABS activates. Normally happens as you slow and the front wheel runs over a bump in the road, the 'thump' is enough to upset the ABS. A new bushing tapped into place normally sorts the problem.

regards

Dave
