Which is stronger? How many folks have broken stock semi floaters, and with what size tires? I know sputnik has talked about bending/breaking a couple sets of poly performance shafts.

I've got 38.5 sx swampers on order and am debating whether or not to switch to PP rears when I get around to dropping 4.88s in.

i'd run stockers till you start breaking them.....i've been running stock rears for 4 years with 38" sx's and 39.5 iroks and only broken one short side and twisted the splines on the long side at the same time

How much and how hard do you wheel?

I have broken one stock rear, snapped just outside the carrier.I would say break at least one or two before going aftermarket.I run a mini truck rear now (for the centered diff) with stock shafts on 37's no problems.

sputnik40 is a odd case. TBI 2F/sm420/orion2100hd/red lables and you need a 14 bolt.

I ran stockers on a SBC rig w/ 33's for years went to 36 irok's/sm465/ toy box and i put in the polys.

33s? I wouldn't even be talking about axles with 33s. So you didn't even give the stockers a chance with 36's?

nope I am crazy hard on my rig. 2 pinions. countless birfs. and 1 tcase.

The splines on my rears are pretty worn, so I'm thinking it might not be long before I destroy one.
