Looks like your knuckles were recently serviced or the vehicle was steam cleaned very well. I live 50 miles east of you and they won't look like that for long. Next time you do this you'll find a build up of road grime all around that plug so be diligent in cleaning or you'll do more harm than good by letting grit fall into the plug hole - directly into your birfield joints.
