Well, now that I have the 1HZ pump fitting, it would be really easy to crimp a new soft line onto it. The first part off the fitting is steel tube. All i need to figure out is the specs of the fitting on the box side and i can easily have one made up at the parts store.

Stickboy, thanks for the offer, an old FJ pressure line may be handy, but i'll let you know if it comes down to that. I just need to figure out of the FJ and HJ boxes are different and if so, the HJ specs...damn i wish i still had those fittings...

that box is on the wrong side..........how ya gonna make it work?

Well I went down to the shop to check out the situation first hand. Fortunately, in stead of having the pressure line removed from the 1HZ, it was just cut and plugged, so i have the 1HZ pump fitting i need if i get one made up.

I still am not 100% sure that the HJ and FJ boxes are the same. As mentioned, i can get the 1HZ hose with a 17mm box fitting, so if the HJ has a 17mm box fitting, i can buy that hose.

I am going to ask someone in the international section with a HJ60 to throw a wrench on their box fitting to see what size it is. That way i'll know for sure. There a pic of the HJ box incase you guys can help identify it. If it is 16mm I guess I will have one made up using the used 1HZ pump fitting and a 16mm or maybe adapt one of those rebuildable ones.

Fergus, thanks for the info. I am still hoping there is a bolt up solution but i will keep that in mind as a last resort.

thanks guys

ummmm DOH! I was confused, yeah its on the left side.

Which box? the one in the pic? Thats of my LHD HJ60, it is mounted to the left hand frame rail... the 1HZ supplier deals with LHD 1HZ powered toyota mine trucks...i don't think i understand what you mean...

O.K., so the Toyota number does work -- YES! Too bad they couldn't answer the primary question. They should be able to confirm or deny whether or not the HJ & the FJ share P/S gear boxes. I can't imagine that they would be different between a gasser and a diesel given the high tooling costs involved to create a new part that serves the same function during one production run, but hey, what do I know? ;p

I'll throw a wrench on my P/S gear box fittings today for you and verify the size of the flare nut. The pic you posted sure looks like the same box for the FJ series. I've got a spare in the shop and I can also measure the thread pitch and inside diameter for you. :D

Give me a few hours and I'll post those specs

So here's the latest:

Turns out the HJ boxes have 17mm fittings which is supercalifragilisticexpialadoscious....... (sp?) :D

I suppose that means the HJ and FJ boxes are different afterall (?)...interesting, i wouldn't have guessed...

Anyway, that means I can just buy LHD 1HZ lines for both the pressure and return...now the question becomes, is it worth the money to go OEM??.....i figure i can decide that on my own, thanks guys!

EDIT: excellent dogboy, i appreciate it. According to the aftermarket hose company, the FJs have 16mm flare nuts, but a OEM measurement would be GREAT. maybe we decide once and for all if the HJ anf FJ boxes are the same or not...

VT,
here are those specs on the FJ series gear box hose inlets:

15 mm (inside diameter) with a 1.50 thread pitch

a 17 mm flare nut wrench seems to be the best fit for the actual fitting itself

that was a long few hours :) hope this helps,

VT It seems you are making this to hard. Listen to Stickboy just have them made. I had a similar issue when we installed the V8 in our 60 due to the use of a GM pump and Toyota box. Went to a local shop told them what I need they suggested I let them use hydraulic hose (much higher psi) and hydraulic swivels to help with routing with no binding. The best part it was less cost than other options, they will last forever, and you get a perfect fit.

Hey LandCruiserPhil,

not to hijack VT's post, but what kind of V-8 did you drop in? getting the jones for all of the pluses of a modern engine.....

just curious,

Hey all, sorry, i had a busy weekend getting teh 1HZ installed. Anyway, The problem with all the local shops is that NONE have any metric fittings. But I think I can get an OEM hose that will do the job. May be the more expensive route but I think it will be worth it...I could spend weeks trying to find a hydraulic shop the can do it for me.

thanks for the specs dogboy
