steering pump

Got a manuel steering box that is leaking like a sive. Any suggestions on making stop! It is getting fluid everywhere. Some have said to drain it and put grease in there, but how do I drain it and how do I get the grease in there. If I should even do that.

never done it to a steering box.....we do it at work on conveyor belt gear boxes. just take off the fill plug and squirt grease into the cavity. we just add it with whatever gear oil is left in the box.

No it doesn't stop it but it sure slows it down, and at least it won't run dry. again this is on gearboxes for conveyor belts, no direct confirmation on a steering box.
