Howdy all...

Question on a recent steering mod that is almost complete. This started off with a steering box I had a recommended outfit install.... Well I had them continue with the balance of the work and this is how far it got.
As you can see, the right (pass side) wheel is pointing about 5-8 degrees off from center! Makes for a very bouncy ride.
Got it back to my place but stuck as to the next best course of action. I have very little adjustment left. I don;t think anywhere near enough... Two questions:

You can see that both steering arms, (I installed those from a 79-85 mini truck conversion I did awhile back) are angled inwards. Is that the correct placement and rotation?? Pretty sure i stuck to the same layout as the mini truck. But I am probably wrong.

Next is there anything I need to do on the steering adjustment BEFORE I start to panic? Sadly I have no idea on the parts used so your guess is as good as mine. Thanks for any ideas!

Thanks Scrapdaddy - Not sure on the ends... The place is out of business so not sure of anyone to ask. (But might be able to find an old email)

I admit those inward facing ends of the arms look strange to me too... I have a copy of that section from the factory service manual but can't make heads or tails of that particular detail. I do know that Toyota made a slight angle to compensate for full weight on the wheels.
Right now the axle is on blocks, so with wheels on the ground, I am guessing the angle will increase further inward?

Shoot so I might have them backwards after all. Below is a pic of the donor axle I pulled this from. (before the cut I made to the arm. Whoever invented the chop saw, should get a medal) *** ALSO **** I just noticed the "L" on the passenger arm in the pics. Ok I do get the idiot award for the month.

However the angle (hub off center) issue was still there on the old setup when I picked her up from the shop....

Thanks Lil'John - Yes without the spacers, the arms just dropped on with no way to tighten. With the brass spacers I picked up from a cruiser place, they are more snug. I have yet to do the final torque, but they are close to being fully on. On the old 55 series arms, they were pretty wobbly as i remember.

Here's a picture of mine, it's all FJ60 stuff, but you can see how the tie rod end sits level. First is the pass. side and second the driver's. The arms do kick to the outside. Whatever you do, don't mix up the shims from left to right.

Thanks all! Interesting on your arm ends how they seem more level than mine. Huge - Huge help with those images.
I am finishing up running, flaring and final install on the brake lines which are coming together nicely.

Hopefully after I swap the arms, that will help line things up a bit. If not I may be back to square one. Will try to find out in the mean time what brand ends were installed.
