Hello everyone,
I have a 1989 Hilux with a n/a 3l. Before when I had one dead glow plug my engine would start up right away, but that one cyl. would take some time to warm up and fire proper, but after that it was all good.
I changed only that one plug, and now, only sometimes the engine cranks for much longer than it used to to get started.
Time differance being about 7-10 seconds! idls rough for about 2 seconds and then its fine. The temperature has varied from -6 to about -10. And the hard starting is only when I can not plug it in.
I need to know a good base way to start my truck so that I can ween out things, I have been giving it quarter throttle, tried half , and I have yet to try full.
Also my grandfather said I should try depressing the throttle to the floor, before starting to "set" the injection pump for idle.
So I figure I would start with plugs, check the rest, then check to make sure the glowplug system is working.....
