Hey guys,
I've always been a long time bacon fanatic and finally I'm going to be looking at a 79' FJ55 on the coming weekend and was curious to know what is 'default spec' for a 79.

I have been reading so far have noted:
- should have front disks (Is it possible to see if its disk front via the brake MC/Booster?)
- are the rear drums dual wheel cylinders or single?
- retractable seatbelts?
- do they come with a bash plate under the transfer?
- large suspension bushes

Is there anything else I've missed?

Thanks.

As far as I know, Australian spec FJ55s were dual cylinder drum brakes from beginning to end, with no front disc option.

Have seen all three seat belts in the late model, too, being lap, three point, and three point retractable, in Australia, but think tailgated pigs should have retractable, even in the drum axled Australian pigs, where the ambi doored have three lap belts front and rear.

Don't quote on any, but think that coincides with 40/45s of similar vintage. Don't recall seeing disc front as a standard until the +'80 era, even then front and rear drums were used on some Cruisers in other markets, where front disc were standard spec here from '76 on.

often on australian market 55 were equiped with rear full floating axel.
mine have drums on front, I think until the end they didn't change.
2 retractables seatbelts on front , but only two seats, 3 seatbelts on rear, one 2 points in the center and 3points on window seats.
no rear heater.
I still wonter if rust is a standart equipment...

My 78 Australian FJ55 has hand cranking tailgate, front disc brakes, and retractable front seat belts. It didn't have middle lap seatbelts probably because the bench had already been removed. (It is possible the disc brake front end was an add on by previous owner).

Thanks guys.

I guess its nothing that can't be modified or upgraded to suit. I have 60series rear full floater and a front disk with hub spacers to slide under it from my bj42 which is running a custom 60series rear spring pack and a custom 75 front spring pack.

I guess I'll be swapping over my retractable lap sash seatbelts too.
