I'm interested. The weekend of the 8-10 would be best for me. I'm new and i've never been.
:steer: It's a ball and the sand is fun to play in! You can take it easy like I do or you can run it hard and jump the dunes like the crazies, either way it's fun!! o_O

Tommy did you change your ways? last time I was there you were the crazy one :) along with a couple others.

Ooooooh Ya! I got older this year, you too! Busted!!

This trip has no affiliation with the "club" just friends going for a drive.

I am leaning twords Friday May 8-10. With so many unknowns that's weekend that @Rambo Penguin had talked about going. And this would give everyone a little more notice. I was kinda waiting until the weekend to figure it out since i haven't had a chance to look into the ID guidelines/news etc. regarding DA RONA
don't put words in my mouth, i'm down to party any time!

Updated trip status. Trip is scheduled for May 8-10. Still looking into ID and I’ll update convoy meeting locations and additional who is going to attend

An update on ID

Stay at home set to expire April 30 - Governor is expected to do something similar to Montana and ease the restrictions in steps. ill update this situation as i learn more. Im sure they will update before the deadline

This is the only information i could find about camping. Bare in mind that this St Anthony sand dunes are federal land so this does not apply necessarily but this is the only information i can find at the moment.

I will be contacting the BLM office after the April 30 deadline or any updates.

When will state campgrounds reopen?

The Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation plans to allow camping on May 15, spokesman Craig Quintana said by phone.

“We’re conferring with the governor’s office to see how that comports with Gov. Little’s plan for reopening,” Quintana said.

It’s unclear whether out-of-state residents will be able to camp in Idaho campgrounds before the end of May, he said. Under Little’s plan, people coming into Idaho from other states must continue to self-quarantine for 14 days. Quintna doesn’t know if that requirement might be modified in coming weeks.

“Half of the people who come to Idaho parks to recreate are from out of state,” he said. “We’re waiting to find out if they are going to be prohibited from coming until the end of May or not.”

UPDATE ON TRIP STATUS: COPY PASTE FROM BLM EMAIL

Aaron,

Egin lakes campground will open on May 8th.

We may use preventative measures to maintain social distancing, i.e. alternating campsites open and closed, use only fee tubes for fee collection and alternate restrooms open and closed to minimize exposure.

Please check back in before you make the trip for updates.

Thanks

How about the sand dunes themselves? Is the OHV area expected to be open as well?

to me

The active sands open on Apr 1 so yes they are open. Please check with ID stay at home order before you travel. Order ends on Apr 30, not sure what the next phase will be.

You can provably check the state of ID COVID-19 on the web.

As of today ID entered into stage 1 or eased restrictions: as per the website: "Continue the 14-day self-quarantine for people entering Idaho to prevent influx of out-of-state visitors. "

This 14 day quarantine does not expire until May 30th under the plan.

So the way I read this is that applies if you are headed to ID and plan on staying. Similar wording for the Montana guidelines.

Would be interested in others thoughts about this.

I'm reading it as long as were not staying in ID and coming back to Montana, (14 day quarantine only applies to "visitors" in Montana.) The 14 day quarantine guideline does not apply for this trip.

Lets ride!! :deadhorse:

Do we have the use of the 406 flags even though this is not a club event or should I buy one here before we leave? Thx!

Important update: after much thought I’ve decided that the best course of action is to stay in state for the time being. I believe that the trip to the sand dunes should be postponed at least a couple of weeks. Just to take the conservative approach and avoid any grey areas or complications with the 14 day out of state travel guidelines. As an alternative I think we should all do the ringing rocks trail this up coming weekend instead. Fun and easy trail, I plan to and know of a great camping spot very close to the trail head. Can accommodate as many as six or seven rigs if needed. What is everyone’s thoughts on this? I know everyone is excited to goto the dunes but they will be open all summer long and we can always go another weekend after the madness settles down and the restrictions are lifted.
