I'm never in this forum but I'm posting for my neighbor. He has 1990 P/U 22RE, stick and no A/C. He just had me over to listen to a sound when he turns it off. When the engine stops there is a squeak that sounds like Nelson from the Simpsons, kind of a "hee-ahh" a bit lower than higher afterwards for about 1 second. It did it every time he turned it off for me and it didn't sound like it was coming from the front near the belts or pulleys, I couldn't really tell where it was coming from. He says the longer he is driving it the louder the squeak is at shut off.

Any help would be appreciated,

Thanks,

Mine does a similar sound sometimes, only right as I shut it off, as the engine spins down. I think it is the fan clutch.

First off, this has to be one of the funniest threads I have read on here. Your desscription is hillarious.

Second, mine does the same often.

Well Juke I was sitting listening and thinking how can I explain what this noise sounds like and then I heard "Hee-Ahhh your mom's a jailbird!" and went with it.

So this must be fairly common and not an issue it seems? He has had the truck since new and it just started this summer according to his kid but he just noticed it this week.

Nelson?? :D That you??
