hey

so i am doing a fornt disc brake conversion on my 71 fj40 and the knuckles that i got form an 83 bj 60 had rusted out dust shields so i am not putting them back on , anyways I was wondering if anyone knew what grade the spindle to knuckle bolts are supposed to be because I have to replace them with shorter ones and I dont want to use the wrong grade ones

thanx

Why shorter? The dust shield isn't that thick. If they do bottom out (I don't think they will), use a washer or grind a tiny bit off. My Canadian front axle for my conversion was rusted too.

Oh, Welcome to the forum!

I eliminated my dust shields(84FJ60) and my bolts worked like they were supposed to.
Clean those bolts/threads up good with brake cleaner and then blow em out with air.
Good Luck.

In the rebuild kit there are two seals attached to metal brackets which bolt through with the spindle bolts and dust shield and they seal against the hub

were you able to put these seal back on after removing dust shields
