Kids have a 'snow day' today with school closed. So I may not be into work today. Will attach those documents when I'm next there....

Here is the 1kzte manual. I believe you just insert a jumper in the diagnostic connector (t1 to e1 I believe?) and readout LED flashes from the check engine light. That's how all the other old Toyotas of that vintage work anyhow. Double check the manual first though. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=4&ved=2ahUKEwiBwJPIlrTgAhXuGDQIHTfEAaUQFjADegQICRAC&url=http://etoymag.free.fr/manuels2/1KZ-TE.pdf&usg=AOvVaw3rqGP3n-39tcBjA8SwY3E_
Yes to all that - just did it last night. Read through the manual for how to read the codes and a list of what they mean.
Diagnostic port is under the hood. Jump TE1 to E1 with a wire or paper lip and read the check engine blinks for your code.
Detailed explanation of process begins on DI1 of the service manual you were just provided.
So looking through the manual, they show a connector that you can plug into the DTC system then connect to the ODB2 style readers. Has anyone come across one of these? I have an ODB2 reader from other cars and it seems like that would be a lot easier than reading flashes on my dash.
