So im driving around with my buddy and he notices that the right side of the bed hangs a bit low. I tell him that it has always done that and its not a problem.

Being the thick headed kid he is he stuck his head under the truck anyway and low and behold main leaf spring failure. If it wernt for the double military wrap my axle would have been located somewhere on interstate 90.

It must have happened recently because it was news to me. Anyway we drove back to his place and for fear of my life it got parked till I could get some new leaf springs and stuff under there

Now it just so happens I had some spare parts lying around care of All Pro and Marlin Crawler for an occasion just like this.

Check it out the photos suck because they were taken late last night.

I have routed the exaust above the frame and lifted the gas tank 2 inches so that I could end up with a fairly flat underbelly from the t-case back. Eventually Ill loose the t-case suport and build my own so I can plate the entire underside.

Also to note I used the stock spring perches for now because I dont have all the parts I need, but once I get my hands on a short drive shaft and a carrier bearing im going to rotate the axle upwards and use a short cv style driveshaft to aim the shaft outa the way of rocks.

Thats it for now more to come tho.

Thanks those are all pro's 4 inch long travle leaf springs and my back end was down about 3 or 4 inches anyway so I got about 7 inches outa em.

So where's the pics of the broken leafs?
Also that is a pretty shallow angle on the shackles......

I left the shackle angel shallow on purpose. My truck doesnt even have an anti sway bar wich will tell you how much I care about its ability to handle the road. But I do care about getting as much flex outa em as possible hence the shallow angle and johny joints on the shackles.

Like I said it was late last night when I took the pictures and I didnt know wich scrap pile the leafs were in. I also said there are more to come so just hold on there buckaroo im sure we can work something out.

You lost me here.....explain how a shallow shackle angle gives you bad handeling and better flex. Shackle angle play little roll with these trucks in regard to handeling, was is a factor is length. There is a compromise in angle for a reason, less angle=less drop but more up and vise versa. So you're telling me you don't want drop but up travel???

the angle looks alot worse beacause of 2 factors 1 the bed is no there yet so the added weight is not on the frame/ leaf spring 2 the springs are brand new 0 miles on them so they have not settled in, once the springs have some miles on them and the bed is on with its usual 150 pounds of cargo that angle will become less extreme

all pro says to move the rear hanger back 1 1/2 to 2 inches we moved it 1 1/2
:flipoff2:

true true but it seems to me if the springs have to settle that much for a good angle with just the weight of the bed they are inline with suck-o downeys. All pro is not a name I would doubt at all. I'd say keep an eye on them after a few weeks and you could grind off the mounts and move them to get a better angle if you feel you want it.
