I just bought a 93 Toyota shortbed 4wd, it has a suspension and body lift with 35s. I tested the truck when I bought it and every thing was fine. Any way it broke:censor: The side gear shaft had been welded back on. It broke right where it comes out of the front diff. So I popped the cover off and found welds all over the gears :hillbilly:. I have a chance to buy a diff off a 93 T100 for 120 bucks. My truck has manual lockers and trans. The T100 is an automatic with auto lockers. I have till tomorrow or it is sold to someone else. I,m trying to decode the vin numbers to find out if the gears are the same. Is $120 a good price? I may just buy it and resell it if it won't work on mine. Iv'e read the stickies to figure out the vin codes but Toyota has some diabolic encryption system and I need more time to decipher it. Help!!!

Won't be a direct bolt-in/on.

I roasted my T rear one time and a V6 would NOT bolt on...A stud or two is off...

I THINK it can be modded though...just can't remember where I herd it...

Also, highly doubt the gears will be the same...

Here's a good decoder:

I think he's talking about the front diff, and I think they are swappable... But I've never worked on a T100, so don't quote me. Welcome to Mud Poppy! :flipoff2: :D

Rear diffs are different.

93 Diff

Thanks for the info. This is my third Toyota truck but I never had problems with the differentials before. I'm going to have to learn more on the diff codes before I can figure out what to do. The truck is driveable and I still can fit my 99KLX300 and my grandsons KX65 in the back so I can at least look good hauling our bikes to the track:steer:

Bobzombie, I live in northern Indiana. Sounds like a good deal, but shipping it might be pricey. Let me know if your anywhere near me. Thanx POPPY

whoops, sorry. Yes, the front diffs are the same. The shafts are the only thing not. They are wider. Those are the shafts you have (or had) to get when doing a Total Chaos baja type lift on the mini...

BUT TAKE THE POCKET LOCKER OUT!!!! They do NOT belong in fronts, especially ADD and IFS fronts.

The Tacoma's are a hi pinion, reverse rotation, split case and come in the (bleck!!) new IFS Landcruisers...that's why they're blowing them to...

And, der...the front drive shaft is on the other side...
