-H-,
That beach is actually on the Pacific Ocean side of Baja. Quite a bit south of San Quentin.
This time of the year is notorious for strong Northerly winds on the Sea of Cortez. Whenever SoCal has Santa Ana winds, S of C has Northerlies. try to get SoCal weather reports. You don't want to be in Kayaks with cod, 40 knot winds.
Before exploring it in the landcruiser, I spent 9 months in the Sea of Cortez on a sailboat. I only mention that to validate the warning about the winds.
The good thing is that the winds don't pick up until a day or so after SoCal starts getting the SantaAna's, so you can forewarned.
If you have a ham radio or even a short wave receiver, the Chubasco net is on 7294 in the morning. Since it's a net for cruising boats in the Sea, it always has excellent weather info.
Have a great time,
Ed
