Brakes.. Here is where I'm not a purist.. Mark's off road has an adapter to put a boosted system from a later truck on yours. If your truck has a 74ish front drum axle then I personally would convert the front to disks. Leave the rear drum for now.. but i'm not a purist, i go for safety and ease of maint first.
First DRUM BRAKES are not UNSAFE ...
second is most drivers haven`t learnt to break correct....
Learning this at a race car driving school and learn how to brake in a emergency case isn`t bad, I can recommend that.;)

i'm certain that discs are 'safer' and that a dual reservoir is better than two. i think everyone can agree there. ;)

i did drive my 40 around on a daily basis with the single/drum set-up with no incidents or scares. as stated earlier, this 45 has later drums.... so when i get back, i'll see if my contact has early axels with drums. i might even take on the task of rebuilding the wheel cylinders (under a watchful eye).

as far as electronic fuel pump... i'm not so sure that my truck would have started so quickly and consistantly. i could be wrong.

I also bought kkt (Keil's) driver side fj45 seat... now just need the pass bench...

as always, i appreciate the experienced opinions from all, and do not wish to argue drum/disc comparo's, etc. thanks! ;)

I turn the key and my engine starts quick & easy and consistently as yours ;) .... never had problems since I own it...
except this curious thing with the not venting gas cap

you won't find headers for that engine. that's the siamesed intake early F engine. headers are for the later engines only. run what ya got for now.

My input Roll with the motor you have Enjoy the truck and take your time with the upgrades. as far as going out and buying a bunch of stuff Take your time and continue to post up what your looking for you can be surprised what some mud members have stashed and are willing to give up to keep another Cruise alive. Disk are a great upgrade but I have no problem running drums on both my 45's without any problems. remember your running the orginal motor there tough but not much for HP. Make a plan set a goal and ask alot of questions. Bottom line Enjoy it. Pm sent call me anytime Rob
