Hey guys, I’m currently revamping an old 80 series as a project and I’ve managed to remove all the old sound deadening and about to give it a deep clean. I’m ready to install the new sound deadening from carbodies, but I’m a bit stuck on what to do first. I have the old wiring and everything that appears to all work. But Should I get an auto sparky to inspect it and possibly run some new leads for future additions/speakers? before installing the first layer or can this be done afterwards without ripping everything up
Sorry for the stupid question
Do you drive into or cross water frequently ie: get the interior soak/flooded now and then?? IMHO there's significant rust on the floor we generally don't see much of in the US unless there's a leak or three.
If not then while you're at it find the leak(s) that's causing the floor rust. IME a leak coming from the molding below the rear (quarter panel) windows can trickle either down into the quarter panel cavity causing rust or if from the front section of the molding can trickle forward over the hump and down to the floor. Test by spraying the windows with water from a garden hose while everything is apart and watch for drips coming inside. Quick fix is a very small button of butyl rubber over the clip holes for the molding. Any rust coming through the rear wheel humps/wheel wells?
