I've heard old stage is in much better shape. I'll still be meeting you at the top.

I don't know what it is about the "back way" but I really like it. I'll probably join you out of WP and take Old Stage home. ???

I'm thinking I can join this one. I went up Old Stage Rd last weekend and the lower part is in really good shape. They got rid of the worst of the washboard. The upper part still has plenty of washboard but not too bad. I'll meet wherever.

Anyone been out that way recently? I did it last year with little issue (well, everything but the last bit of Eagle Rock :D). Heard some talk as though it might be quite a bit rougher than last year and therefore a bit too much for my plump cruiser. ???

Reynolds Wrap: I would think you will be fine. I winched through the "squeeze" area near the start, it's a little more eroded than the first time we were there. I didn't work too hard toget through, and it was really my first opportunity to use the winch. The rest of the trail was how I remember.

Eagle rock: I think you stopped in the same place I did last year. The rest of Eagle Rock is a tough trail. You climb a steep, sustained grade for quite a while. I much had more trouble on Eagle Rock than I did in Chinaman Gulch. That said, my trouble was from limited traction. There are quite a few spots that will flex your suspension while you are in loose dirt/gravel. IFS won't help, but I don't think ground clearance will be an issue. I was wishing I had a locker, but I suspect you will do fine since you have atrac.

I would say: go for it.

I would keep the 100 out of Eagle Rock if it were mine. Did you happen to see Andrews door last year? Rocksliders will help, but your wheels will suffer, as will your rear sheet metal. If you're set on going, remove all your plastic hub covers and plastic bumpers, make sure there's a guy with a winch in front of you.

I'd have to agree on this one Travis. It's gonna be rough going with the 100. The climb section is loose, with rock outcroppings that will do some serious work on your wagon bits. The section Andrew got the door was the easy part of line out. Your ATRAC may help you out, but I'd think that you'd still end up on LCAs or on your skids (but that's nothing new for you now, is it?).

Rain did a good number on it last year. Looks like I'll be on my way to NTC on the 24th, so I won't make the trip. If I'm still here though, I'll be joining everyone.

I'll probably heed your guys' warnings and sit this one out. More motivation to get seriously working on the 55. Found some axles for it: http://cosprings.craigslist.org/pts/4690980066.html

Probably not a bad idea. I was on the fence with my "go for it" recommendation...but I still think that you could do it.

The section Andrew got the door was the easy part of line out.

I thought it was the easy line, too...not so sure now :meh:. Getting off camber on such a steep, loose hill was my mistake, I think this time I will navigate the straight path, if possible.

:)

I bet you would be fine Travis. Probably taking the rear bumper off again would be a good idea. A guy on the fj forums went with his 1 week old stock fj cruiser and it doesn't sound like he took any damage or had any problems last weekend.
But I probably won't go because he said it was a muddy mess and there was actually quite a bit of snow there., My luck I would slide into a tree. The weather or wet conditions would be what would keep you out of there. I am still waiting picks from him. I guess he was with a stock jeep and I want to see if it's a 4 door or 2 door. I couldn't imagine a stock 4 door but anything is possible.

This Saturday!

I've updated the OP with who's planning on attending...........

I'll update again after tomorrow's meeting (when there will hopefully be some additional info on who, what, when, where, why....).
