Newbie here. LX450. Replaced factory stereo with Sony XAV-AX3200. Still experiencing some background humming noise that has to be a grounding issue. Power antennae was working w/factory radio but now goes 1/4 way as soon as car is started. Any thoughts? Also, any thoughts on backup camera value/installation? Appreciate the time & patience.

Following. Just got a new head unit that has RCA jack for backup camera. Just want something simple and decent quality.

Be sure no RCAs etc. are grounding out on the exposed metal. Run a test ground directly from the battery and see if it goes away; if it does, run a new, permanent ground as you see fit.
Will check the RCAs - appreciate that. Then the test ground if necessary. thx!

Did you disconnect the OEM amp?
If not, this is almost definitely the problem. Connect an 87+ connector to the connectors that used to go into the amp and run it back to your head unit, leave the extra connectors dangling. Then chuck the OEM amp.

Got it and appreciate it. Unless I'm mistaken, believe I'll lose the awesome 30yr old factory 4" center console subwoofer but can live w/that. Thx.

Yeah I believe you're right. Honestly didn't notice the loss when I did mine though 🤷‍♂️
Thinking the same. Reps at Crutchfield stated that there weren't any "suitable" dash and door speaker replacements for the factory ones. Did you replace any of these?

I did not. Mine sounded okay pre-head unit for a 30 year old setup, and noticeably better once the new head unit was in. I know people do upgrade the door speakers, there’s probably some good threads on it. My 80s setup is just too loud to make it worth the time or money for me.

So I connected the Metra 70-1761 to the speaker wires off the Sanyo but no longer have power. Bypassing the amp. Do I need to connect the red and yellow power from the unit to a new power source instead of the line coming from the connector that I plugged into the 70-1761? Thx.

Just clarifying, you wired the 1761 to the matching wires on the Sony connector and plugged the 1761 in? Like this thread?

Thanks for the f/up. Wired the h/u red/yellow/black wires to the matching r/y/b at the connector that went to the OEM amp. Full power with no hum and power antennae is working so all set. Really appreciate the support/education. Have researched door speaker replacement forums and will be tackling that next.
