Sometimes Aisin (was Denso) is better than Toyota

I needed a new water pump and didn’t feel great about paying a couple hundred at the dealer. Somehow while searching I found a Denso part number and plugged it into the online parts places. Sure enough Rock auto had one for $75US. All in after shipping duties and taxes it was on my porch today for $125 cdn. I'm pretty sure I paid more for the last one I bought in 1998.

EDIT...

Please just ignore all references to Denso in this thread. It is an Aisin water pump.

I'm still confused by the Denso reference?

And yet, after looking up the Aisin number and ordering the Aisin part and taking a photo of the Aisin box and posting it I mistakenly called it a Denso part even after being corrected. Holy feeble minded.

Installed it today. Those paint splotches are where they ground off the teq casting emblems and touched them up with mis-matched paint

Seems to work so far.

I'm pretty sure that the fan shroud is made of recycled razer blades. My forearms took a thrashing.

Did your new pump have the nylon impeller?

Im not sure. I was just wondering if they constructed them the same way as the 1HZ and 1HD T pumps. I think the nylon impeller is preferable over the metal type used in the aftermarket pumps.

A year or so ago I found a 3b cruiser on Rockauto and bought some 12V glow plugs for it.

Ever since I have searched rockauto for more diesel parts but can't find another listing that lets me choose a diesel :(

Could you tell me what year and model you searched for?

thanks

Joe
