Someone was wondering how these differ from the other Sankeys & US trailers so here are some pics. I put the Remington in because I realized it would be hard to grasp the size without seeing something else in the pics. They ARE big but not really huge. They are rated 3/4 ton and they have two landing legs on the rear that help stabilize them. I think they make a nice alternative to a M416 for a camping trailer.

They are pretty neat. I think The British even made them with a drive axle that ran from a driveshaft out of a Land Rover's PTO. I remember seeing one years ago but I think I forgot to take pics of it.

That is what is nice about these British Army Sankeys- they are big but not huge. They were meant to be pulled behind 1 ton trucks not deuce and a halfs (if I recall correctly). So they aren't really heavy. I can't think of the US trailer that comes closest to these.

That is a very nice trailer. Are you selling any of them?

They aren't mine they belong to a friend of mine, 11E is sold but I think one of the others might be for sale. I'll email him and ask. I just happened to stop by to see a winch he had just bought and while there I figured I'd take the opportunity to snap some pics of the Sankeys because I know some people like to know what is available out there besides M101's and M416s.

That would be perfect fitted with one of the trailer tents the Aussies use. :idea:I'm guessing there may be a connection.

I don't know- possibly, for some reason I was under the impression the Aussies used WWII Bantam type trailers. I'm not really up on what they used in the 3/4 ton roll though.

Being somewhat bigger it would give you more room to mount a larger tent on top, or have less of an overhang to deal with.

They have a slightly different style of trailer tent than we see in the US. It opens up such that half of it is like a traditional tent and the other half is a sleeping platform on top of the trailer. I'd much rather have that style, climbing a ladder into a pup tent doesn't sound like something I would enjoy. So far I have only seen one US tent trailer that is similar. It is made by Leesurelite and not suited for of froad travel.
