Sprocket3,
Is that a NM license tag on the rear?

Congratulations, that is a nice find and you were ready to jump on it and that is what a lot of people will not have the balls to do.

Yes. He was up here going to school and quit driving it when the tags expired. Didn't have money to pay for gas and everthing else.

I'm impressed that you talked him down from the already ridiculously low price of $2,700. I'm starting to look at 80s but need to sell my 60 first. I need to get it cleaned up and washed before taking photos and starting to put the details out there. I sure hope I can get more for it than you paid for this 80

Did you at least give him a reach around! What a smoking deal! That price gives you plenty of room for upgrades! I think I've seen that rig before. Nice job

I'm still kickin' myself  I could of had a rig with more power, better brakes, and AC that worked... dang.

Nice snag. Looks like the headlamps have a plastic film on them that's yellowing or is that a reflection? Anyhow if its the thick vinyl, they can be peeled off and the resulting goo left on the lenses cleaned with 3M's Adhesive Remover spray - about $10 at any auto paint/trim store. Spray to soften, use a scraper, repeat. Use rubber gloves as the goo stinks like an old tent for some reason.

It's just the plastic film. I think it will come off pretty easy.

WOW! I've seen a '97 80 with 30K original miles for sale for 35K, your deal beats that one by a country mile!! :D j/k

Congrats! I'd do exactly the same as you did, if I had a chance.

Gee, guess what, an underpowered pig with 200K+ miles with fuel prices at over $4/gallon that needs some work is practically worthless. Try selling one and see how it turns out. I keep laughing (sorry :o) when I see these things listed for $15K because they are modified.

I'm going to keep watching and see if I can pick up a relatively nice one for my wife for well under $5K. It won't be long.

Hell, if I give it another year an '03 100 will be down below where 80's were 2 years ago.

I wish now was when I was buying vs. 3 years ago, I could have gotten 2 for the price of one and had no car payments at all.
