I am currently stuck in Montana trying to get home to Mn. In my 2001 LC but I had a power failure that has left me kinda stranded.
Going up a hill on interstate 94 I loss power but the rigs runs ,?all gauges look good but check engine light and the 2 vac l track and off lights are on.
I drove on the shoulder for almost 2 hours at 5-10 mph trying to make it to a decent sized town…, I get no reaction giving it more gas pedal no reeving or RPM increase.
I finally pulled over, started it again and although the warning lights remain on it seems to drive ok but I stopped at hotel for the night, I have 13 hours left to get home.
Seems like a fuel issue, a fuel pump relay or fuse?
Appreciate any input.
Thanks

Keep an obd2 scanner in your car moving forward and a laptop to troubleshoot.

It could be an issue with your ECU or maybe one of your microcontrollers is the cause and not allowing the right communication via the CAN bus.

If you're inclined to tinker the product below might be for you. Best of luck!

Agree on getting a Bluetooth OBD scanner. But if you can get the truck to an auto parts store, they can run the codes. It may be something as simple as a bad plug wire or spark plug. Mine did something similar when I had a bad plug. Went into limp mode.

However, there are several issue that will put the vehicle into limp mode.

Your 100 is in limp mode, I had this happen exactly as you described, Try disconnecting the battery, clean and reconnect. That worked for me on the side of the road.
Another time I cleaned the intake and sensors and that fixed it. Good luck, research “limp” mode”.

Ok I got code P1121 accelerator position sensor.
It seems to be running fine now the warning lights have been cleared.
I have 13 hours left on my drive, will this problem likely pop up again on the rest of my drive, do I need to get the part replaced asap?
Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the input guys I made it to a Toyota dealership, they should have the part tomorrow and fingers crossed it’s the right fix.
