Hello,
I have a '72 FJ40. I came up with the Aloha as part of the logon name because I do believe the truck spent some time in Hawaii, and I recently went to Hawaii.
I bought it in 2000 in Virginia, put about 20K on it, and had to mothball it for awhile. I'm looking to get it running today, in hopefully roadworthy condition, and will be looking to either drive it, or move it from the current state (Arlington, Va) to somehow get it tooling around in the South Carolina Low Country area.
I'm not going to have any time to work on it myself, and would like to know if anyone can recommend a good mechanic either in Arlington VA, or around that Hilton Head SC area with Hilton Head being the center and working out about 100 miles. I did look at some of the shops listed on this site, but they seem to be a bit far from the island.
I'd like to get it roadworthy, drive it for awhile, and do a total restoration...a bit down the road, unless it will need one now.
Any suggestions or help on mechanics in either area is greatly appreciated.
Aloha. Tom
