44s came with a 2B unless they were swapped out with a 3B the later years 46 came with the 3B

Dieseler, I found one back in Tenn. List Aussie as 82 BJ42 lx AC and 5spd, but I call him up to find out if it was a B3 or B2 underhood? He's not really sure. He was asking where would he look at to find out? Can you tell me where to tell him? Also there a BJ44 in Vintageoffroad.com that has a B3 diesel. He said it come with it. What do you think?

what kind of prices are you seeing out there for these trucks?

High and Higher. I think we imported one more 44 from NZ after mine. Since then they have been like Keyser Söze. Poof and they're gone.

Getting a 46 from Japan that hasn't been rolled back big time, wrecked and rebuilt, or that isn'tt made of rust with the paint holding it together is also hard now...

IF you decide on a 42 i can be of assistance. 44s are a much harder game especially in the condition you are asking for....

As a Q, why just the 3b? I have a 2b(t) and it's fine.... I'll drive it untill it poops out and then throw a 3b or even a 14bt or (giggle)15bt into it as they become more available. If you decide a 2B is good, there is a really nice unadultered one in SD for sale right now for a great price! Search in the vehicle classifieds here on mud or just look through a few of the most recent pages and you should find it.

Nevermind on the SD rig... sold... Congrats Smitty!

what do you suppose a 1983 BJ42 would be worth? Low low miles (75,000 KM actual), stock truck, 5 speed of course, factory PS, no A/C. extremely low rust, all original sheet metal throughout, has some bubbling.

Thanks Brecken for the good info. Brecken If I wanted the 82-84 42 with the B3, AC, PS and 5spd. What am I looking at to get in to LA, CA and registerable? How long the wait and will it be best from Aus and NZ cause the Japan are not recommend as you were saying? It seem like there not many in the States for sale at the moment.

Hmmm. Perhaps I may have been a little too oblique?

I'll try again, a bit more directly this time.

I know where such a truck might be.

again, what is it worth?

LACruiser - Without pictures the 83 could be anywhere from $7000 - 25,000 depending on a lot of cosmetics, mods and engine condition. If you post a pic, I might be bale to compare it to what stock i have. Keep in mind being in the states will give a premium as you don't have to wait for it and most importations are via pictures and testimonials only so there is a truct factor discount.

RnR - AUS and NZ will be similar condition but will have a few differences in spec as AUS got their own spec'ed trucks while NZ had a ton of JDM imports. In one example, JDM rigs got front disks around the same time as the US - 1975, but they didn't get to AUS until 1981 and even later on some rigs.

I have some nice rigs available right now. PM me a budget and I will send some pictures of what I have in that price range.

Shipping would be directly to Long Beach and would come with all paperwork to register. NZ rigs are cheaper to ship than AUS for some reason so keep that in mind.

Lacruiser,
If you have it or know someone who has it. Let me know since your in the area that will be great. Send me PM with info to contact. Like Breck said it somewhere between $10K-$20K plus depending on originality and conditions. It's within my range just got to be Solid!

Orange,
You've seen and drove it? This is the black in half moon on craiglist your talking about? How about the rust issue on that vehicle? I know he has a 84 BJ45 also, but went I ask for the PICs of rust. It was pretty bad. It was like rotten. Thanks
