I have an 86 extended cab pickup, replaced the front calipers, pads, rear shoes, rear drums, hardware, etc. But since ive owned it it has had a soft pedal. Push it halfway, then it brakes. Ive also noticed that after you run or drive truck and use the brake, then shut it off and you can hear air coming from the master cylinder/brake booster area somewhere. Cant pinpoint exactly where. As you push the brake while its running, as the pedal comes back up you can hear a sucking sound(dunno if thats normal). Was wondering if anyone hhas any ideas if it is indeed the mc or bb, or which. My friend said he had to bleed his proportioning valve and that helped his spongy brakes, but mine is pretty rusted and i am afraid to break it off. Ideas and help would be nice.

Yeah i figured it had to be that. No i dont have a vacuum gauge. Is it pretty safe to say the air sound i hear isnt good, like even if its not the problem it should be replaced?
