Not sure of the exact application. This has the TR oem manufacturing stamp on it, but I did not order it. It came to me a few years ago from Toyota Matt, and if there was a note with it, it has long since been separated from the part.
In my imagination I think I was supposed to try it in the Karma Cruiser, which is a 1969. The plug looks to be a match for that. Since my instrument cluster isn’t exactly easy to see, I can’t imagine wanting to make it dimmer.
