Hey guys so been working on the Soa on my car for quite sometime now. I had finished the rear and have now moved to the front, and I am stuck in a pickle! Passenger side ruffstuff perche for somereason I cannot get on right(10degree plate) and just as i am about to do my cut and turn.. I sit there in a blank not knowing what im doing. Any one know where i can read up (cut and turn for dummies step by step). My measurement on the axle was at 4 degrees caster. Any dummy proof info will help me View attachment 1087109

Search for SOA builds on this forum.. there are a few good write ups on here. you might have to dig a little to find them. I didnt do a c&t on my 62, but the 62s have a higher pinion angle to begin with.

I feel like the more I search the less I find helpful but more and more confusing! Whats really being a pain is the 10 degree perch for the passenger side I dont really want to grind down a whole lot on the diff and weaken it.
Why do you have the 10 degree perch?
Step by step procedure:
1. Grind off old perches from front axle
2. Rest new perches on top of axle
3. Set approximate angle and bolt with u-bolts
4. Set final pinion angle with driveshaft attached, and this will differ if you're using a DC front driveshaft or not
5. Tack-weld perches
6. Start cut and turn
7. turn knuckle and set caster to what you prefer
If that doesn't make sense, then post detailed pictures of your dilemma.

When I reached out to RuffStuff. They told me I "HAD" to have the 10 degree perch.. I Do not have a DC shaft. Running the stock 85' Shafts. I will post a bunch of pics tonight when I get home today to get you guys an Idea.
grind the perch to fit the diff, not the other way around..

I used the ruffstuff kit on my 62. They are quality parts but that pass perch is only a starting point, you will grind a good amount of material off of the inside of it before it fits correctly. I also had to grind a small amount on the diff to get the bolts in on the inside of the pass side mount. I also had to replace a couple of the studs on the differential with bolts, so that it would go in without fighting it.
You and your grinding wheel will become great friends while setting up the PS perch. Make sure that you get it the same height as the DS (ground to flat part of the perch) so that your rig doesn't lean to the left or right. If I did it again, I would just ditch the little piece that goes underneath the perch.

I was thinking the same about the little perch piece. I have 2+ in Iron man spring and Im thinking of setting the pinion angle around 17 Degrees... Does that sound too much?
This is what I did when setting the pinion angles, I can go in 4-hi and cruise at 60mph with no vibrations...
first: Once you get the perches set right, lower the weight of your rig on the axles
second: I took a metal bar (cut a broomstick or something straight) and line it up to where the pinion flanges are pointed to the transfer case flange and then drop the pinion flanges around 2 degrees to compensate for how it rolls up under torque.
I don't know if this is the right or wrong way to go about this, but it worked for me!
My rig has FJ62 springs w/ Add a Leafs so it's not as high as yours will be but I don't think that changes how the setup goes. Also I am running 5.5 degree castor when I did the Cut and Turn. Oh and I have DC shafts front and rear.

Just a update. Set the pinion to about 16 degrees (measured after i set the pinion pointing to the flange with a straight edge). Welded up the Perches and did the cut n turn... I must admit the cut and turn was probably the easiest part of the whole SOA once you get an understanding on things. wanna thank you guys for the tips. I really don't fell comfortable with the Ruffstuff passenger side perch I have a feeling it sits a tad bit higher then the driver perch which will cause a slight lean! 
. I went ahead and tried the cut and turn with a sawzal... Really clean cuts super easy to turn and went about 5 mm deep cuts. I set my caster to 5.5 degrees welded everything up.. Any thoughts would be appreciated

I'm in the process of going soa right now. The rear is done now working on the front. How did yours turn out? Did you get everything finished? Do you have any pics of it finished
