So this tree comes out of nowhere....

I tried to itemize it by assembly. The only place I really see where I could save a few bucks is the tail light. However, that's so minimal. I'm going to go ahead and make the claim. As much as I like the slee bumper, I don' think I could justify it. As you can see above the bumper repair is $550, and my offroad adventures don't really require that level of rear bumper.
 
If you own the truck outright, the insurance will cut you a check to you if you tell them you're not sure who you want to have fix it. You can then work with the body shop the way you want and apply your bumper money to a slee if you so desired. I've done this a couple different times with different vehicles and it has always worked out. It only works if there are no liens on the truck though.

Disclaimer: this is my experience in the state of VA, YMMV

I say now you can stop worrying about it and wheel it like you stole it. Knock in the other side this weekend so it's symmetrical and noone will notice. After a season of this you can cut the wheel wells bigger with a Sawzall for more clearance for the 38" Swampers you're gonna get. Then next year cut the top off, build a cage and you'll have the coolest UZJ100 on MUD.

Not to make light of your damage...but wondering if the Slee or more surely the Hanna bumper would have made a better match for the tree...maybe these bumpers aren't so expensive?

Yes, she's all mine. My point was that the metal work has to be done and the bumper repair is only $550. You guys are trying to bait me into spending another $1,500 (which is not hard, believe me I was drooling at those pics of shotts' bumper). I wish I liked the look of the TJM rear bumper. That would be easier to justify.

Huh? I haven't seen the Hanna rear bumper for a 100. Is there one? How much?

BTW, point taken on the tree vs. a good bumber.

Sorry...I got cornfuzed forgetting Hanna only does an 80 series bumper...although they might do the 100 bumper as a custom fab? Anyway sorry to hear/see your damage...however at least you were wheel'n instead of maybe coming out after shopping and having gotten this damage from some errant mall baby (I haven't sustained this kind of damage from being in parking lots but I have more than my share of small dings, dents and scratches from the careless self-serving you know whats...sorry for the rant).

Point CDan to this thread and have him see what he can do. I bet he can save some moolah on $425.48 worth of parts. Just remember this is your only chance that someone is going to give you money (at least $226) towards fixing your truck. If you want the slee bumper there isn't a better time! :D Just curious, is this a dealer quote? It seems pretty reasonable all things considered.

I've had success with this website. http://www.car-part.com/ I was able to source some steel wheels for a rover that I used to have. You tell it what you want and it searches many salvage yards and lists the available parts in order of cost by salvage yard. Many of them will negotiate their price too. Good luck and sorry to hear of your misfortune.
 
I picked it up this afternoon, final cost was $2,903.30. Looking through the final tally, they had to replace the vent louver. I'm not sure why, it was in good condition. Unless they damaged it during repair.

Anyway, they did a fantastic job. Everything looks great. The old bumper cover was showing it's age, and had some paint peeling and scratches. Now it's brand new. One thing I'm bummed about is they replaced the side moulding and it looks a lot better than the rest of them.

Oh, and when I picked it up. They had "Toyota Land Rover" on the key tab. Aaaaaaaaaaaarggggghhhhhh.
