If you have any interest in going snowshoeing at the Crest, I can take a group up there this sat. I have an extra pair of snowshoes to lend out and/or you can rent them in town. You can also purchase used set from Outdoor Regear Outdoor Regear · 4520 Alexander Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87107 - https://maps.app.goo.gl/kkXeCDYti9YvTicz6

Meeting place: Cabra coffee Cabra Coffee · 12216 NM-14, Cedar Crest, NM 87008 - https://maps.app.goo.gl/hWaX4Qdj5Rd4Q29PA
Meeting time: 8:30am
Depart time: 9am-ish

We'll convoy up to the Ellis trailhead parking lot Ellis Trailhead · Sandia Crest Scenic Hwy, Cedar Crest, NM 87008 - https://maps.app.goo.gl/VRy2cQTU1gv5UHNj6 then go walk in the woods. This parking lot will be FULL if we get there any later than 9:45 am. In the past, people end up parking on the actual hwy!!

What to bring: wear ski pants and/or gators. I'd wear layers that you can remove if you get too hot from the exercise. I usually bring a hydration pack for water while hiking.

Bring all of your recovery gear, which should already be in your rigs from the previous day's outing 😁

Dogs: please bring your dogs as they'll love the snow. If they're not dog friendly, consider leaving them at home.
Snacks: I'd bring snacks to enjoy while we enjoy the scenery up top. Assuming the wind won't blow us away!!

If we want to hang out at the parking lot and eat food, that's cool too. Bring chairs!

Post hiking meal: there are couple of choices in Cedar Crest for eats.
El Mariachi El Mariachi Authentic Mexican Food · 12220 NM-14 # 1, Cedar Crest, NM 87008 - https://maps.app.goo.gl/fJGWfiqPgwxGEjeu8
Green side cafe: Greenside Cafe · 12165 NM-14, Cedar Crest, NM 87008 - https://maps.app.goo.gl/k49agZ84JVFv9ba86

Post hiking wheeling trip: you can opt to return to ABQ via the "back way' through Placitas. If you want to do this, be sure to have your recovery gear onboard. You might not need them but there's usually someone who might need to be rescued!!
