It hasnt snowed since last year but there should be one more before Spring shows. So just to prepare for the next snow storm, Im asking what days you guys are available for a last minute or a day warning Snow Run.

Frazier Park is close to people up North but a freaking hassle with I5 being closed therefore no access to a remote chance Gorman/Los Padres trails are open.

Im thinking Lytle Creek. Almost in the middle of everybody. Ive read reports and seen pics and it looks like an awesome area for good snow wheeling.

If nothing else, it will give this board an idea who are available for those impromptu wheeling during the work week.

You have?... it doesn't snow there that often. The elevation is pretty low.

Yes Dave its twoo.
I saw/read it in the Blue Forum so its gotz to be be twooo!
Im at work so I cant post a link.

So by the responses Ill be rolling with some FJCruisers if it does snow.
They know their priorities - snow wheeling before work/school.

Might as well get rid of the 80 and roll with the 120s. Just joking fellas. :flipoff2:

Last Minute Run - Lyttle Creek - Page 2 - Toyota FJ Cruiser Forum

I went up there with one of my FJC friends the last time it snow (weekend after christmas). It was ok, crowded... bunch of soccer mom SUVs, minivans, etc out trying to play in the snow. Ended up just turning around and going to Cleghorn, that was more fun. Especially trying to go up an icy hill... made it up 75% of the way and then lost traction and started sliding backwards while still on the gas... :bang:

So let's just do Cleghorn, better chance of snow which we may get this week, better terrain and it's just up the hill.

From the OCRegister.com

The second cold front is forecast to approach the area late Friday.
This may cause widespread rain with brief periods of heavy rain
through Saturday. Rainfall amounts from an inch at the coast to two
inches on the coastal mountain slopes... and a quarter to a half inch
over the deserts are possible. Due to cold unstable air
aloft... thunderstorms with hail are also possible. The snow level
should lower to around 4500 feet. Significant snowfall... greater
than 6 inches... is possible above 6000 feet.

If it's snow you want you may have to run up to Big Bear.

Cleghorn got plenty of snow! ;)

Thanks Scott.
I called in sick today because Im actually sick. Looking at this weekend if I get over my splitting head and joint aches.

I have to be feeling really dynamite to go to the BB area and west of it. Hate the traffic down there with a passion.

Cleghorn got more snow Monday night! Too bad it's gonna be a mess up there this weekend.

...looks like snow this weekend, anyone planning on going out?

I was in Apple Valley / Stoddard Wells on Monday and it snowed off and on all day, about 33 deg. Bad news was I was on my DRZ400.

Still proved the standard axiom that the worst day on the motorcycle is better than the best day in the office.

Dan.

If I can go out, it would be this Fri - but I dont plan on going South of where I live. Ill probably be with my 2 y/o just playing in the snow and not take any chances of getting stuck.

Ill keep an eye on this board if anyone does get a run going this weekend though.

dang, I'm up for some snow running...!

Heading up to Green Valley Lake tonight. Planning to see how far sown we can make it to the campground at Crab Flats. My neighbor up their ran it in his mini snowcat yesterday and had a blast. So if the 80 is a no go, i am hoping to "borrow" the snowcat.

It looks like a couple of us have bikes (FJtoyman, e9999, etc)....Has anyone thougt about doing a dual sport ride ? I have XR400 that i have taken on some multiday trips....

If my kids cooperate, Im heading to Frazier tomorrow. Eric, you remember that trail you took us last time with Appletech? But Ill be driving the Forest Rd instead of that rocky trail that dead ends. Im heading there tomorrow AM maybe around 9-10. But!!! Im with my kids so everything goes out the window if my 2 year old doesnt want to play like today.

Heres a cam with weather and road condition from that area Im heading to:
WebCam - The Cuddy Valley Cam in Southern California

last time I was there in the snow, I think they closed the main road to outsiders a bit after you'd get to that trail (forgot the name) from the East, but the trail itself looked open, although deep snow and no traffic past the first 50 yds...
Please do let us know what the conditions are like up there. I may go this weekend.

I'd love to do that, but not in the snow...

Dont bother. All the trails are closed and if there are some that are open check with the Ranger Station.

I tried Pleito Trail - Ranger was at the trail head telling people the gate is closed and will be for the whole winter. I had to back out from the gate to the trail head because the Rangerette told me to stay on the trail. Funny this was open last year at this time (ran it with some FJC guys). From what I heard some people almost fell over the ledge last year and thats is why.

Had fun with my kids though up Mt Pinos, help shovel some snow to get a Celica unstuck, met the Celicas owners Dad/+his1983 Solid Axle Hilux, and tow strapped a nice couple in a Wrangler with a broken 4wd out of a snow bank. Did not take pics of the stuck vehicles - unnecessary.

No chains necessary for 4wds through the snow gates toward Mt Pinos.

:flipoff2: Wrong Stamp Dates - had to replace the battery and did not reset.
Top - Hes owned it since brand new!

Middle - My rig waiting for a winch and a real rear bumper.

Bottom - "Yeah you with the 4wdrives. Yall need to get the F--k out!" :hillbilly:
