if you know everything then why the heck ask us?
I have been half way up the doors in water for over an hour the 80 kept running the whole time, no issues(beside wet in the cab). Been in water(for 75yards) up to the mirrors........no issues.
electronics don't like water........true. but fresh water will not do the damage that salt water will do.....I beleive water and electonics are not that big of an issue.......water in the motor is a HUGE issue.........and thats what a snorkle helps with.
I wouldn't say never......cause I know folks have done it, including me(in a 80 not a 100, but still electronics)
and I live in WA state.......where it rains a "bit" never had an issue with rain entering thru snorkle intake, in snow i turn it backwards
diesels are better motor anyway for water crossing, all they need is air......
did anyone mention snorkles look cool
and they are really ment more for dusty conditions then water anyway IMOP

bcripe said:I notice most of you guys put snorkels on your 100s. Why? You will never be able to cross a deep river. Just too much electronics. I would think that you would be hard pressed to get so much water in past the airfilter to drown your motors. I have extensive 4x4 experience and have only drowned a motor once on an old Ford 3/4 ton crossing a river in AK. Water was coming in the open windows and over the hood. That truck never started again.
Just a question.![]()
