Some of you know I fly all over primarily North America doing mapping/aerial survey. I sometimes land and stay where there are other clubs and I've tried to meet locals. Sometimes not so inviting; but I'm here in Austin with the Austin Chapter of Texas Land Cruiser clubs. I went to the monthly meeting on Tuesday. There were at least 25 guys with everything from a beaut of a BJ45, FJ40 stockers to 60,80, 100's. An 80 with a 6BT cummins stuffed in there, holy crap!! Phoenicians FJ60 SOA with a 4BT, 37's and all sorts of work. Not to mention that HJ61 that was for sale in Calgary for $17000 last Dec was bought by a guy here for $12K US, he is one HAPPY dude I'll tell you. Great truck, really nice worth every penny.

Anyhow, they are a great bunch of guys who are all working on real life driving trucks, not a poser in sight! Makes it worth while hooking up with people on this sight. BTW, it's 4000 KMS to Austin, and
KATEMCY ROCKS is Mar 12-16 here about 100 miles to the west in Mason. So anyone with vacation time and the need to put some miles on I highly recommend looking at this. These people are dedicated, somewhat crazy Land Cruiser nuts, and this event is one of few top highlights of the Land Cruiser year.

wow, seems like some seriously cool rigs down there. nothing better than a bunch of guys from all walks of life who share a common interest or passion whether it be stock or heavily modified, or somewhere in between.
austin sounds like a club worth knowing!

It was a dark and stormy night, beer and BBQ, not a camera in sight! haha! I'd have felt like a tourist taking pics with my
phone. But I still have a few more days to catch some guys in daylight. I did have my ipad and they were impressed with the few pics I had of the Chilcotin.

Best off adventure of my life as KTR years ago..great people, evene better food..................

I should have put these up the other day. I didn't get a photo of the engine, I'll have to call Mike back. We had a good gab session,
swapped some fun stories. Not enough time to go wheeling, maybe next time. The rear bumper is made by Reevesci from MUD. It's
really stout! I can't believe that the twin swing arms are held in place with just the latch. It sits on a tab/back stop, but not physically
attached to the bumper in the middle! Kind of weird, damn truck makes my plane look small o_O

It would seem to be around.....$400. I'd have a lot of trouble justifying that. You and Rob should look it over and build one.
I might get together for coffee this weekend and will see about more pics. Try to get a better idea of how it is put together.

There are marine (boat) and RV BBQ's that are a similar size and mounting style. They are well made and show up used fairly often. Could be modified to mount on the back of a cruiser. Would be nice, as last time we did a BBQ on a wheeling run, I had to pack it hot and dripping grease back into my cruiser, and smelled charred meat all the way home.

Yeah, the little force 10 or dickinson's are pretty nice. I've had a few over the years. Think I have a "magma" now, I don't like it as much as the old force ten drum shaped ones, ( pic) although it is nice and small, and easily mounts to anything.

As for Texas, great food and scenery, but too many guns, too many churches with too much power for me.

I have to bite my tongue the whole time I'm there, there's just no polite way to tell people what I think of that society. :meh:

Foods greasy, scenery is nice, no such thing as too many guns, churches are just buildings. Hmpfhh....
Nice people, always fun to talk politics - but yo'all better be republigun!!
