My therapy on Saturday after suffering a hailstorm (that resulted in significant home and 80 series damage) on Friday evening to start the Memorial Day Weekend off on a great note was to install the new sliders on my 200.

Slee's site has very good instructions here: http://www.sleeoffroad.com/installation/slider_steps_200_sof1119_v1.3.pdf
Good enough that in reviewing them, I figured out where the 1/2 Allen head bolt goes on the US Driver's side and will add that today ... step (7B)

Overall, the install is straight forward, if a little tedious. Some tips I have:
  1. Find as small a 1/2" drill motor as you can since clearances under the truck are tight.
  2. Buy two of the 17/32" drill bits .. they are hard to find and I broke one and bent the other on the last hole.
  3. Have a means of lifting the truck reasonably high since 6 holes have to be drilled in the bottom of the frame. I resorted to a drive-on jack I use for my tandem axle trailer and a chunk of 6x6 treated pine.
One thing that is not listed in the current version of the instructions is the fact that you need to modify the mounting points of the fuel tank skid plate (see the pics in a later post).

I will not go through the step by step details since they are covered in Slee's instructions, but I will note where I deviated from the instructions.

Contining ....

Looks nice without the factory running boards

The need for the 1/2 drill

Holes drilled and nutserts installed on the passenger side frame rail. The hole in the top right in the first picture (with the paint) is a deviation from Slee's instructions and is where I placed the 1/2 Allen head bolt on this side. This is the last hole I drilled and I bent the drill bit in the process.

One thing of note is that all the holes already exist in the frame, you are simply opening them up.

And yet more ....

Modified gas tank skid

A few minutes with a hacksaw and some black spray paint tweaked the frame side mounting points.

step 4b.webp

The rest is simply mounting the suckers up. A few of the bolts are hard to get to. On the driver's side, in step 7 (7a to be precise) Slee shows a button head screw replacing the stock hardware to hold the KDSS lines in place. I could not for the life of me get that screw started so I reused factory hardware.

The end result

They look good by my eyes and afford a larger step than the factory running boards. Definitely will keep some of the mall parking lot door dings at bay :grinpimp: ;)
